Vista View Elementary honored for work encouraging positive student behaviors

The Minnesota Department of Education has recognized Vista View Elementary for its sustained commitment to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), an evidence-based framework that provides instruction and support for positive and cooperative behaviors, and supports the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students.

Vista View Elementary was one of 93 schools statewide to be honored this year. MDE credited these schools with demonstrating exceptional leadership in improving school climate, engaging the community, and increasing student achievement.

“We are so excited to receive this PBIS award at Vista View Elementary! This recognition celebrates the positive, caring, safe community we’ve built together with our students, staff, and families,” Vista View Principal Angie Pohl said. “At Vista View, we ROAR by being Respectful, On-task, Achieving, and Responsible. PBIS helps us live out these values every day and makes our school a place where every child can learn, grow, and shine! This award is really about all of us working together to help our kids to be future ready and community strong!”

Vista View was officially recognized by MDE at a ceremony on Aug. 14.
