District 191 elementary art show runs through May 20

 

More than 100 selected pieces of artwork by Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 elementary students are on display now through May 20 at Ames Center in Burnsville.

The annual District 191 Elementary Art Show opened April 3, and an opening reception is planned for Wednesday, April 17 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The opening reception will take place on April 17th from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and the show runs through May 20th at the Ames Center,12600 Nicollet Ave, Burnsville. 

The exhibit features pieces created students in kindergarten through grade 5 from all eight elementary schools in District 191. There will be drawings, paintings, mixed media, and a variety of three-dimensional works.

“The Ames Center show is always a ‘must see’ for our 191 community,” said even organizer Sara Merkel, an art teacher at Hidden Valley Elementary. “It’s an opportunity for us to showcase and celebrate our students’ hard work and creativity.”

In addition to Merkel, elementary art teachers are Elizabeth Branham (Edward Neill, Vista View), Taylor Ellendson (Gideon Pond, Virtual Academy), Ryan Ermisch (Harriet Bishop), Kelly Knott (Sky Oaks), Maria Starkey (Rahn, Vista View) and Kelly Rae Vo (William Byrne).

Located at 12600 Nicollet Ave. in Burnsville, the Ames Center gallery is open Tuesdays through Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. There is no charge to view the exhibit.
